Colorado Videos

Here are some of the videos from our Colorado/Rocky Mountain National Park trip. Lots of elk…make sure you turn up your speakers to hear the bugling!

The first elk bugling we heard, as well as the only sparring we saw the entire trip. We’re pretty sure these bulls were young ones, not really fighting for real, just showing off for the cows.
Here’s a little more of the sparring, but also another bull elk watching from afar, and bugling. I zoomed in and out, which gives you an idea of how far away we were.
This is very early morning in Moraine Park, with the sun just barely coming over the mountains and the mist and fog still hovering along the meadow floor. There was one bull elk, one cow, and one calf in the area this day. A good shot of the bull bugling around the 0:27 mark.
Same morning and elk group, I got a nice close-up shot of the bull elk bugling around the 0:38 second mark.
The rest of the videos are from the same day, a late afternoon late in our trip. This is one large herd that one bull elk kept running around, trying to keep all his cows together. Some good bugling here.
This is the same bull elk, who in the first part of the video can be seen chasing off another, smaller bull elk. Good shots of the entire herd, and the main bull running back and forth, trying to keep his herd together. You’ll hear some other bugling off in the distance, that’s from a 3rd bull elk who was also nearby, trying to lure some cows to him.
This video has some good shots of the main bull elk bugling, and trying to chase off the 3rd bull elk that showed up.
This last video, you can see the bull elk has crossed the river and is chasing off another bull elk (off camera) and rounding up more cows.
