G is for Gorillas

My G activity was pretty predictable but it had been a while since we had visited our friends at the Franklin Park Zoo, including Gigi, the "President" of the zoo. Since Doug and I have a lot of time off this week we decided to complete at least two of the alphabet activities. Today the wind chill was below zero with gusts up to 50 mph... a perfect day to hit the zoo! At least the gorillas have a nice warm indoor habitat in the Tropical Forest.

After the zoo, we traveled into South Boston to visit the Baltic Deli. This is in the Polish section of Southie (meaning a 2 block radius), and is supposed to be the best Polish deli around. The store is small, but it's packed with all sorts of Polish/Eastern European delights. We stocked up on smoked kielbasy, pierogies, Polish beer, rye bread and babka. (They had chruscikis, but we have so much junk food laying around from Christmas, we decided to hold off on those until Easter.) There's also a Polish restaurant across the street called Cafe Polonia that sounds intriguing. We may have to check that out some day as well.
