Interleague

We went to our second Red Sox game of the season this past Sunday afternoon. The New York Mets were in town for interleague play. We started the day off right with a breakfast at Cabot's. We arrived at Fenway right about two hours before the first pitch, so we hopped in the Red Sox Nation line to watch batting practice from the Green Monster. Unfortunatley the Sox don't hold BP on Sunday day games after a night game so we just sat around and soaked up some sun from the Monster. When the gates opened we did our usual walkabout in Fenway, got some snacks, and settled into our seats directly behind home plate in the last row.

Surprisingly, there were quite a few Mets fans in attendance. The forecast did not look promising for the 1:30 start and we were glad to be sitting under cover. Sure enough, at about 1:45 a thunderstorm hit and before too long it was a full blown hail storm. Everyone sitting in exposed seats scrambled quickly for the exits. The tarp was rolled out and we endured a 30 minute rain delay. Luckily that was the end of the rain for the day.

Our seats weren't too bad; we sort of had to lean over to see 2nd base and we couldn't see the jumbotron at all but that's Fenway for you.

The one really annoying thing was all the people in the rows in front of us who were constantly up and down during the entire game. They very rarely waited until between innings to get up; I find that so rude. There was one pair of women who arrived late and seemed to be having a hard time figuring out where their seats were. They stood in the aisle for what seemed like five minutes, with the entire row standing and waiting for them to make a move. Finally Doug yelled out, "FIND YOUR SEATS...HOW HARD IS IT?!" They seemed to get the message and just left the area. Jeesh. Anyway, the Sox won 12-5 and avoided a Mets sweep. I now have a 7-game winning streak going back to last season. Our next game is my first Sox-Yankees game in June.
